Hi Elaine, thanks for reading my blog, firstly, you can join sites such as Tweetlater, now called Socialoomph.com and create an account, they will monitor the web and send you an email when someone mentions your Tweets or your name etc, you can also create an account with Hootsuite, they also have a monitoring system that will tell you if someone retweets your information. I monitor it all the time and it's great for tracking your tweets. If you are tweeting links then use the URL shortener on either of the sites I've mentioned, they give you tracking stats on your links which is great for seeing how many times your tweets are opened or shared.
As for uploading a photo as long as you follow Twitters instructions there shouldn't be a problem also try twitbacks for a background to your twitter site. looks good and really easy to do.

I hope that helps

Thank you for the consolidated, informative information. I have a question, as I enter my tweets, how do I know if someone comments about the tweet on the public forum? Or, do I just await them to follow me?
Also, I tried to customize my profile and the photo would not upload? Maybe my computer, I'll keep trying.
